Big Ken and Colleen

Kurt’s Blog: Crue…Crue and Alice Crue-per!

Love the Crue…It started in the early 90s…but really hit the peak in college for me. Oh, the hair metal parties of the Red Carpet Room at the Theta Chi House. I

When they played Vets some 8-9 years ago…I had front row tickets…right in front of Mick. It was AWESOME. AWESOME. I nearly lost my eyebrows due to the amount of pyro…but it was well worth it.

Yes…every article lately has mentioned that this Farewell Tour isn’t off to a great start. Some technical issues…some missed cues…but I say…whatever…and if that happens, it happens…it adds to the show.

I interviewed Vince Neil 8-9 years ago…it didn’t go well. Ken and Colleen wanted me to attempt this solo…just to see what would happen. For the record…I was told that I was interviewing Nikki Sixx…and then 3 minutes prior, I get a call saying, Nikki is busy, you’ll be interviewing Vince. Holy cow…I immediately get even more psyched. Vince…Neil!

They tell me he’ll call in about 5 minutes. I wait…and wait…and wait…for 15 minutes. My dreams are dashed…then I get a call from their publicist asking why I hadn’t called. This happens all the time in radio…they’re supposed to call us…or we’re to call them…and there’s a mix-up. I am told though that I’ll have about 4 minutes with him…so that adds even more pressure.

They told me that when I call the hotel to ask for “Mel Lowe”. AWESOME.

I get Vince on the phone…and completely embarrass myself. Hear it here. Vince was very nice…but I asked terrible questions. I asked about his hair? HIS HAIR? STUPID STUPID STUPID IDIOT KURT. What a stupid question.

I was going to put up the video of Tommy Lee doing his crazy rollercoaster drum solo that we’ll see tonight…but the fact that he can’t go 5 words without dropping an F-bomb, I figured we might as well just see it live tonight.

Listen…Tommy Lee…is an American Legend. Everyone knows about Tommy Lee…the music, the tats, the Pamela Anderson video…the fact that he lives his life to the extreme.

Tommy Lee

When he was filming his reality show at the University of Nebraska…I saw him at the Omaha Zoo…it looked like him, then I saw the hand tats, and knew it was him. Seemed like a super-chill guy.

I’m stoked (just getting my 80s persona ready) for Alice Cooper as well. I’ve never seen him live, and from what I’ve read, he’s bringing out all the showstoppers…the guillotine…the boa constrictor…maybe someone will even throw a chicken up there.

It’s going to be a great show tonight…can’t wait. RIP Motley Crue…but if you decided to revive yourself, we will all be happy to kickstart your heart (groooannn).

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!

REVIEW: ‘It Follows’ is the best American horror film in a decade

In this image released by Brigade Marketing, actress Maika Monroe appears in a scene of It Follows, directed by David Robert Mitchell. “It Follows,” has been arguably the buzziest American film at Cannes next to Bennett Miller’s wrestling drama “Foxcatcher,” which boasts a far more famous cast and a major premiere at the Palais des Festival.

"It Follows" is a horror movie worthy of classic comparisons.
