Kurt’s Blog: It’s Coldplay Day…But I’m Still Listening to 5 Seconds of Summer?

Coldplay‘s new album “Ghost Stories” comes out today, and from the few songs I’ve already heard, it sounds like a really good album. Yes, music critic Kurt says “Coldplay is good”. I know…just broke the internet and blew minds with that comment.

Hopefully this album won’t be analyzed to death with questions like ”

Yes, it’s a Coldplay day…yet, here I am…a 36-year old man…hooked on the infectious sounds of 5 Seconds of Summer. I don’t know if it’s because it reminds me of the good pop-punk from the late 90s/early 2000s…but here I am, enjoying the band that opens for One Direction.

For the record…I don’t sing the line “in my American Apparel underwear”. I realize that I’m too old for that.

At least I’ll know what the kids are singing while we’re at the pool & Raccoon River Beach this summer. Of course, they’ll all be like, “What’s with the creepy dude singing 5SOS songs?”

This is seriously the playlist that was on my Ipod yesterday…Bonne FinkenBrantley Gilbert…and 5 Seconds of Summer…oh, and some Neon Trees.

Speaking of Bonne Finken….really happy that Star 102.5 is spinning (I’ll use a radio term from 80s, why not?) her new single “Step Back Baby“. June 19th, at the Temple Theater…you should go to her show, it’s going to be great!

By the way…I love this post from Buzzfeed…it’s Pitbull’s definitive dance moves…dance moves I will strive to master.

AWESOME is as AWESOME does
