Kurt’s Blog: The Cozumel Trip!

Cozumel is AWESOME…

I was going to post this on Friday…but it was my first day back…and no one really does anything the first day back, right?

There are some pictures from the trip (from the 200+ photos that we took).

It was an AWESOME time…and it was a lot different than I thought it would be.

First off…Cozumel…I’ll take Cozumel over Cancun everyday. I didn’t think I’d like Cozumel as much as I did, but it’s beautiful, and it’s still its own little island, and it still has that feel. Loved it.

Cozumel Downtown is a blur of shops, with $1 cervezas, and just a fun, safe environment.

Where do I start? The ATV ride through the jungle? The snorkeling in the ocean? Renting our own jeep for a day and just traveling through the entire island? (Note: I disobeyed…or ignored…or just didn’t understand every Mexican rule of the road) (Note 2: there are very few rules of the road there).

We stayed at El Cozumeleno, which was a nice resort…had everything we wanted (except a terrible Wi-Fi connection, holy cow, that was a pain in the butt)…but the staff was incredibly nice, and I liked pretty much everything about the place. Even better, there’s a place called “The Lobster House”…which was the best lobster I’ve ever had…and one of the Top 10 meals I’ve ever had. I’m droolin’ thinking of it right now…and this will sound like a stupid comment…but they had the best rice…ever.

I had a wonderful time, my wife did too, but holy cow, we missed the kids like crazy. Many, many, many thanks to my mom & dad for takin’ care of our kiddos while we were drunk on Miami Vices & Sex on the Grass’s.

Two Quick Notes:
19 years ago…Kurt Cobain committed suicide. As a huge Nirvana fan, I was crushed…and it was really the first time a celebrity death made me sad.

The ACMs last night were AWESOME…especially The Band Perry…they rocked it!
