As students progress through the class, they will get to interact with professionals working in the technology field. Learning to code contains similar problem-solving skills applied in
everyday life. Allowing a teenager to identify a problem and solution in the most efficient way possible can help develop their decision-making skills in the future. “Our computer class gives them the opportunity to do just that,” said Toni Fuller-Merfeld, MetroWestLearningCenter director. “Students will work on a project with a beginning, middle and end point, bond with a peer group that shares similar interests, teach and learn from others, and acquire skills that could translate to future job opportunities.” Learning to code helps youth understand the technology shaping their world and gives them the necessary tools to: Make their own website Become a programmer Start a business Classes will meet on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 with a tentative start date of Jan. 14-April 1.
