The Beacon of Life is putting on a fundraiser on May 3rd at the Events Center West in West Des Moines. The Quiz Bowl is BACK!  On the day of the event , Registration starts at 5:30pm, Quiz Bowl Starts at 7pm. $20 per person or $160 per 8 person table . Grab your friends and co-workers for a trivia evening. The price to play includes a nacho bar with all the fixings, and a desert bar. Cash bar is also available. To reserve your table please call the Beacon of Life at 515-244-4713 ext 202 ask for Keisha. The Beacon of Life is a long term transitional housing facility with a 34 woman capacity.  Our Mission is to Create an environment that empowers women in crisis to achieve positive long-term change.

A New York City doctor says U2 singer Bono suffered multiple fractures and had to have two surgeries after his weekend bicycle accident. Orthopedic trauma surgeon Dr. Dean Lorich says Bono underwent a five-hour surgery on his elbow in which three plates and 18 screws were inserted on Sunday night. Bono had another surgery to repair a fracture to his left pinkie on Monday. Lorich says Bono will need therapy but a full recovery is expected.
