Solar Eclipse Event

October 23, 2014 - 12:00 am - 4:00 pm at Science Center of Iowa
401 West Martin Luther King Junior Parkway

Free and open to the public
www.sciowa.org
Join staff from SCI and the Des Moines Astronomical Society to view the annular solar eclipse! SCI will have telescopes with solar filters for you to safely view the eclipse. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. We will view 66% obscuration in Iowa – two-thirds of the Sun will be covered by the Moon. This is the last solar eclipse visible from Iowa until 2014 when we will only see 44% obscuration.
