At the age of 13, Cassie was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma just as she was starting her 8th grade year. Her treatment started on September 13, 2010 and ended on January 7th, 2011. She had 4 cycles of chemotherapy and 7 rounds of radiation to help kill the cancer cells throughout her body. During this time, Cassie was able to continue with school and participated in some way or another with her outside activities, whether she played or performed manager duties.
After January 2011, she continued with check ups every three months for the first year and at her one-year check up the doctors found a new spot. A biopsy was done on April 26th, the day after her 15th birthday, and she was diagnosed with a relapse of Hodgkins Lymphoma. Cassie is currently going through treatment and will be having a stem cell transplant sometime this summer.
