Ken & Colleen’s Kids Radiothon

Jake DeHaai

Jake DeHaai, from West Des Moines, has been in remission for two years. At age 10, doctors found a cancerous tumor in Jake’s nose. To help fight his fear, Jake decided to name his tumor “Bob.” When “Bob” was removed, Jake’s family and friends threw a “No More Bob” Party. Throughout several months of chemo, Jake remained in school. His family would bring him to Iowa City on Fridays and have him back home on Mondays or Tuesdays. Jake was thrilled to be able to go to school.

Jake’s a huge Iowa State fan, but hopes to someday go to medical school at University of Iowa. He says he’s grateful to be alive.

From Big Ken, Colleen & Kurt

CMN means one thing to us…helping kids. When a child here at the hospital smiles, it lights up the room, and this Thursday and Friday, we want this hospital to be shining brightly.

We have been doing the radiothon for many years, and it means so much to us that you hear these kids’ stories, you feel the emotions of the parents, and you continue to assist these kids and families.

Helping the CMN directly impacts the quality of life of kids in the hospital, and we thank you so much for your continued support.
