Two weeks after Madeline was born, she developed a Hemangioma, a tumor. The tumor grew in size from a pea to a kiwi in the span of five short days! It was very red and purple in color.
Several doctors were unable to diagnose her and eventually she and her parents were referred to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. The doctors there were also not able to diagnose her and sent them to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. It was here that Madeline was put on a drug for a case study. Within 24 hours of being on this test drug, Madeline’s tumor became a soft mass and within three months the tumor was pretty much gone and the redness was reduced. The amazing part about this was that the drug was only supposed to contain the tumor and nothing else!
Madeline is still getting better. The family is not expecting more results as the purpose of the druge was not to reduce or improve but to contain and maintain. Needless to say, everything is thrilled with the results so far!
