Meet Emily & Paris of Ankeny

How long have you been a couple?
2 years

How did you meet?
I love sharing our meet-cute story! I was door dashing and got a flat tire and had to pull off at the Casey’s on 14th. I called a friend of mine for a ride and she picked me up and took me with her back to a birthday outing she was at. That night ended up being Justin’s birthday, Emily’s best friend. We walked into the Garden in Des Moines and found the table her friends were at. Thats when I saw Emily, she was wearing a black polka dotted dress. We shook hands and introduced ourselves, and from that moment on I knew I would love this girl for the rest of my life!

What was your first date?
I took Em to The Clipper in Ankeny for some drinks. We sat outside on the patio talking for hours, drinking Modelo’s. I’ll cherish that forever. We like to go back and do the same thing on our anniversary as often as possible.

Which one of you is more excited to get married on the radio?
I feel like it has to be me. Ever since my fiancé told me she heard this on your station I’ve been thinking about it nonstop!! I said “please we HAVE TO.” This is right up both our alleys and so very fitting for us. My birthday is 2/25/00, so we’d get married four days after my 24th birthday, which would be really cool! Also, there’s a very short window where Em and I are both 24 because her birthday is 4/8/99. Plus, it’s the month of love 🙂 This is just honestly the best thing I’ve ever heard of. I so want the chance to get married on leap day AND on the radio?? Amazing.

Why aren’t you married yet?
We have been wanting to go to the courthouse but it just hasn’t happened yet. We wanted to get some finances in order first and we finally hit that point. We will definently get married this year… so this would be perfect!!!

What was the moment you knew they were “the one”?
To make a long story short, there was a night very early on when I was really sick and we didn’t know each other well yet. The way that Emily took care of me made me feel loved in a way I’ve never felt before. Her intelligence, attention to detail, and insane amount of gently care and love for me was all I could feel. She proposed to me 2 months into our relationship and we were in complete agreement that we were growing old together. Emily is my soulmate, it’s very obvious we were made to find each other. She is the best, everyone deserves to meet and know her.
