First Friday at Mainframe Studios featuring CommUNITY!
Join us for April’s First Friday at Mainframe Studios – a vibrant evening celebrating art, creativity, and community!
Featuring CommUNITY, a special exhibition juried by Cody Hickok that highlights the work of LGBTQIA+ artists and allies, celebrating visibility, solidarity, and connection. In a time marked by division, CommUNITY elevates art as a way to see one another more fully and affirm our shared humanity.
In addition to CommUNITY, the event will feature two additional showcases: a solo exhibition by quiltmaker Ben Millett exploring queer identity, pop culture, and communal storytelling, as well as a group show of DMPS senior artists.
Guests can enjoy open studios, an interactive art activity with Art is Rad, delicious food and beverages, as well as special performances by the Des Moines Gay Men’s Chorus and drag entertainer Domita Sanchez.
First Friday events at Mainframe Studios are family-friendly, free, and open to the public. Expanded overflow parking at 8th & Center St and a complimentary shuttle make getting here easy.
