This was the bathroom floor when my wife and I moved into our house 7+ years ago…
We never liked it…we told ourselves…”We’re changing this out right away“. I know, you’ll look at it, and say “there’s nothing wrong with it”…but we didn’t like it. Faux wood laminate just would never have been our preference, and once the kids (especially our son) got to potty-training time…it didn’t hold up well.
I’m not sure what “moisture” did this to our floor…but it grossed me out everytime I saw it (which was everyday…5-7 times).
We kept filling it wood filler…It just got grosser (my wife is probably really pleased that I’m highlighting this ugliness).
So what to do….have the pros at Flooring America swoop in and rescue us!
Going to the Flooring America showroom off Hickman in Clive is fantastic…you walk in, the courteous staff is ready to help you. When I walked in, I thought I was going to be overwhelmed, but the staff helped make it much simpler than I ever imagined.
We found this nice slate/tile that we knew would be perfect…got the installation on the calendar, and we were all set!
When installation day came around, I thought for sure we’d find some crazy hidden surprises under our floor…but amazingly, there was only one!
Look…it’s everyone’s favorite…surprise linoleum! Whooooo hooooo!! We decided not to keep it…I mean, we had picked out this really nice slate tile…why let it go to waste, right?
The progress…..I offered no help.
Flooring America was great a telling me exactly what they were doing…giving me an updated timeline…I felt in the know the whole time.
I mean look at this…and yes…I’m fawning over a bathroom floor.
We wish we had done this years earlier….we should have done this earlier.
Look, what’s missing!
I love our floor….love it. I feel the bathroom is twice the size….I’ve laid on the floor…(and not because I passed out on it…that happened on the old floor a few times…but not on the NEW floor…I’m trying to keep it classy).
Big thanks to Shane and the entire staff at Flooring America for their expertise…and making this such an easy decision. Thank you to their great interior designer Jessica for helping me pick out a good grout! (My wife trusted me to do this on my own…and I had great success).
