Happy Valentines Day!
7 years ago, Ken, Colleen, and I did a silly radio stunt where I delivered 100 boxes of chocolate to an office of single women. That morning, I met Jennifer…who, spoiler alert, I married. That worked out well for me.
How did I win her over? Oh, this way…(by the way, we have a photo of that morning…of course, I can’t find the image this morning. Arrgh.)
Anyways, long story short…a co-worker of Jennifer’s says:
“Kurt, Jennifer doesn’t have plans for Valentines Day tonight…what are you doing?”
I respond with:
“Oh, I’m going to rent Saw 2 and eat buffalo wings”.
Brilliant.
Ugh. I’m lucky Jennifer wanted to talk to me after that…truly, I was the epitome of cool. A horror movie and buffalo wings. What better way to tell a woman that you’re truly living a single life.
Thank you Jennifer for taking pity on this geek, and emailing me later in the day. I love you sweetheart, thank you for two wonderful kids, and happy Valentines Day.
Valentines Day Gift Update:
So, I had mentioned on the air that Jennifer really enjoyed the marshmallows from Lucky Charms, but not the cereal part. Then I saw the idea of separating them, and giving a giant gallon-size bag of nothing but the marshmallows. Perfect.
Like I said, I mentioned this on the air, so it’s my fault, but no thanks to whatever co-worker told Jennifer about it. Thanks for that. Ugh.
I thought it would take maybe 20 minutes tops. Umm…no. Two over-size Lucky Charms boxes? Yeah, it took close to an hour and a half…over the course of two days. Much, much longer than I had anticipated!
What Movie Not To Watch on Valentines Day
Well, obviously Saw 2. However, I couldn’t think of a worse movie to watch on Valentines Day than the Ryan Gosling/Michelle Williams’ “Blue Valentine”.
Note: Tonight, it’s a dinner with the kids at El Rodeo…and then a viewing of “Skyfall”. I know, I know, I just keep the romance coming.
AWESOME is as AWESOME does!
