Kurt’s Blog: A Blubbering Mess of Movies

Okay…I know it….I get way too sentimental when it comes to movie…but I’m losing it.

Friday night, the kids, my wife, and I watched “Inside Out“…oh my goodness…seriously, so good. My 5 year old loved it…my nearly 4 year old liked it a lot too (but I think it was a bit over her head, understandably)….but when Riley finally comes to terms with her emotions. I broke down…

I mean bawled…

Almost uncontrollable sobbing.

“Daddy, why are you crying?” “Hey mom, Hey mom, why’s daddy crying?”

So good.

The other movie this weekend? “Peanuts”. Again…so good.

When the movie is coming towards the end…and Linus says “It must feel pretty great to be Charlie Brown right now”…a tear…okay, 2…maybe 3 tears…sneaked out of my eye.

It was a great movie…with a great message…and great for all ages. For all of us parents, it’s the Charlie Brown we all remember and loved, and for the kids, it’s a wonderful introduction into the world of Peanuts. It hits all the right notes, and it tugs at the heartstrings. Charlie Brown is a true underdog story…one with so much heart …and hear I go again.

Now, am I crying at every movie? No…well, mostly no…rented “San Andreas” last week…didn’t cry…well, except for the greatness that is the National Treasure we all know more commonly as The Rock/Dwayne Johnson.

Oh…and what’s coming up in two weeks? The Good Dinosaur.

A movie trailer that my kids have already memorized…a movie trailer that nearly has me in tears. Great…now I’ll be crying at a dinosaur movie. Just add it to the list…I look forward to it!

‘Scary Movie’ tops box office, slaying ‘Masters of the Universe’ and adding to low-budget streak

The summer box office is booming — but not because of the usual suspects. After three weeks of indie horror dominance at the box office, the slasher spoof "Scary Movie" topped ticket sales with $55 million over the weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday, easily besting the far-from-mighty "Masters of the Universe."

Carolina trails Vegas in the Stanley Cup Final and has a big decision to make for Game 4

A sequence of events in a Stanley Cup Final that has gotten crazier by the minute has put the Carolina Hurricanes at a crossroads. They blew a two-goal lead and lost Game 1, erased a two-goal deficit and won Game 2, and rallied from down four goals in Game 3, only to lose in double overtime on a fluky bounce.
