Kurt’s Blog: A Dad Asks a Favor

A Dad’s Plea

126th Street over in Clive/Urbandale/Waukee (I’m never sure what city I’m in while in that area)….

Please…SLOW DOWN.

I know, it’s nice…4 lanes now, but it’s not the Autobahn, and there are a lot of areas for kids over there (dentist office, daycare, etc.) People are whipping around that corner going well over the 35 mph mark. If you have to speed, fine…but slow down as you approach that corner towards Hickman.

Thank you.

(Oh, if you don’t slow down, be prepared for me to point at you…).

Ryan Lochte

Holy cow….what can be said about this guy? Seriously, what can be said? There’s nothing there.

Cartoon Network Hall of Game Awards

This is how the meeting must have gone down over at E!

Executive: “We need something to make Kim Kardashian look not as despicable.”

Intern: “We can get Ryan Lochte”

Executive: “Perfect”.

E! used to be a network that my wife & I watched often. Instead of Kevin & Stacey at 10:00, we were watching Ryan & Guiliana, and rapping with the Daily 10. Last night was the first time I watched E! in about 8 months….what happened? Just a train wreck…one after another.

You Know It’s a Slow Day in Hollywood Trash…

…when a story featuring Amanda Bynes is a “top” story…followed by a story with Tara Reid.
Dear Amanda Bynes,

See Tara Reid’s career…that’s where you’re heading. (note: that’s where you’ve headed)

Sincerely,

All of Us

Snoop Dogg/Snoop Lion

You will always be Snoop Dogg to me…heck, you will always be Snoopy Doggy Dogg to me. However, if you believe in the “Snoop Lion”, his new album “Reincarnated” drops today.

Saw Snoop in London in 1998…figured that would be the safest place to see Snoop (plus, I was in London, that was convenient). 20 drunk Americans, all dressed in white tank-tops, smoking cigars, and backward hats went to the concert. We couldn’t look more poser-ish. Of course, during that show…a gun went off. I didn’t even know London had guns.

Also, for some reason, during that concert, Snoop did a cover of Kris Kross’ “Jump”…and as expected, it was AWESOME.

Great Cinco De Mayo News

Chipotle is adding Patron Margaritas to their menu for 5/5/13! Woot woot! Now we’re talking! Burrito with a patron margarita? Done & done. Note: I like patron because rap artists tell me to. I’m highly susceptible to peer pressure & pop culture influence apparently.

The Impossible

This movie is out in stores today…this is the one based on the tsunami disaster, starring Ewen McGregor & Naomi Watts…and it looks incredible.

The problem? I’ll probably weep through the whole thing. Considering the 2 1/2 minute preview made me break down into tears, that doesn’t bode well for me to make it through the movie without a box of tissues.

Well, At Least You Were Already in the Bathroom

A woman in Kansas went to the bathroom while at the circus. What did she encounter?

Oh, just a tiger.

tiger

A tiger had escaped from its handlers, and although they had sealed off the area…a side entrance to the ladies room was missed, and that’s where the tiger ended up.

At least she was already in the bathroom…that’s where I would have had to head after encountering a tiger as well.

In Future News

Cher just recorded a new album…which means…yep, probably a tour. If you missed one of Cher’s previous two “Farewell Tours”….get ready to catch another one.

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!

‘Scary Movie’ tops box office, slaying ‘Masters of the Universe’ and adding to low-budget streak

The summer box office is booming — but not because of the usual suspects. After three weeks of indie horror dominance at the box office, the slasher spoof "Scary Movie" topped ticket sales with $55 million over the weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday, easily besting the far-from-mighty "Masters of the Universe."

Carolina trails Vegas in the Stanley Cup Final and has a big decision to make for Game 4

A sequence of events in a Stanley Cup Final that has gotten crazier by the minute has put the Carolina Hurricanes at a crossroads. They blew a two-goal lead and lost Game 1, erased a two-goal deficit and won Game 2, and rallied from down four goals in Game 3, only to lose in double overtime on a fluky bounce.
