Kurt’s Blog: A Photo 30 Years in the Making…and it’s Blurry

Weird Al

So, above is the photo that I’ve wanted since 1986…a photo of me and the great Weird Al Yankovic…and it’s blurry…arggh…it’s 2013, and I’m still wrestling with the “flash”. I still love this photo though…blurry or not.

His show at Hoyt Sherman on Sunday night was incredible. My buddy Corey & I went and had a blast.

He’s truly one of the great professionals out there…and just an absolute genius.

Hey Look, I’m in the Register!

Blues Traveler

Tonight at Nitefall on the River…Blues Traveler…AWESOME! Saw them at Stephens Auditorium in 1997, and they were tremendous then, and from what everyone on our staff has told me, they were tremendous yesterday in the Star Acoustic Lounge.

People I Will Never See Eye-to-Eye With

I’m a nice guy…I try to relate to everybody…but I think there’s a certain group of people who I just will never eye-to-eye with…who are these people?

People who enjoy wheatgrass shots for the taste of it.

No way…your tastebuds are dead.

We were at the Farmers’ Market on Saturday morning, and my wife loves the organic lemonade stand (what is that the corner of 3rd and Court)? Anyways, they have wheatgrass shots there…and this woman (who appeared snooty to begin with), walks up orders a wheatgrass shot…sips it with her friend and says (to anyone within earshot)…”I don’t know what everyone complains about, these are soooooo delicious”.

This is a person that I can not get along with.

To All the Ladies

I went to bed before it was all done with, but my wife stayed up to watch the Bachelorette finale, and, of course, “After the Final Rose”…and she literally jumped into bed with excitement when it was revealed that Juan Pablo will be the next Bachelor.

(I couldn’t find a non-copyrighted photo…so here’s a link to all things Juan Pablo:

Ladies love the Juan Pablo!

Do You Know What Movie I Can’t Turn Off?

The Help.

Yep…the Help. Everytime it’s on Showtime, I find myself watching it…the entire thing.

One More Week

That’s the next “teaser” for Katy Perry’s song “Roar”…it will be fantastic. I have not heard it…but the idea of adding Katy Perry with the word “Roar”…with leopard print at the end? What could go wrong?

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!

‘Scary Movie’ tops box office, slaying ‘Masters of the Universe’ and adding to low-budget streak

The summer box office is booming — but not because of the usual suspects. After three weeks of indie horror dominance at the box office, the slasher spoof "Scary Movie" topped ticket sales with $55 million over the weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday, easily besting the far-from-mighty "Masters of the Universe."

Carolina trails Vegas in the Stanley Cup Final and has a big decision to make for Game 4

A sequence of events in a Stanley Cup Final that has gotten crazier by the minute has put the Carolina Hurricanes at a crossroads. They blew a two-goal lead and lost Game 1, erased a two-goal deficit and won Game 2, and rallied from down four goals in Game 3, only to lose in double overtime on a fluky bounce.
