Kurt’s Blog: Another Round of Being a Father to Flying Things

Last year…we had Mama Duck and her eggs in the backyard…two years ago…we had a Mama Bird and her babies (which didn’t end well…the mama never came back)…this year…we have a new Mama Bird in our wreath, and the birds are doing great. There are three of them…maybe 4…and they have names…and this is what happens when a 3 1/2 year old and a 2 year old names things.

We have…Ninja Bird….Policeman Bird…Puppy Princess…and Boots.

Not going to lie though…it’ll be great when these little guys take flight. The nest is making quite a mess.

It’s been a weird two days…these are the 3 songs stuck in my head.

1. Turned Down For What (which is fine)

2. Frigate in the Sky (sung by the pirates in “Pirate Fairy”…here ya go.

3. The Strawberry Shortcake theme song…yep, both kids seem to be enjoying this.

Alright teens…do your cinnamon challenges…put condoms through your nose, whatever…but do you know what has to stop? Youtube videos of fights…like actual fistfights. It’s sickening…they’re not funny…and you look dumb. Not cool…not tough…you look dumb. You might ask yourself, Kurt, why/where are you watching these? I saw one…for about 20 seconds, and was disgusted. For our Clips segment, we go to about 20 different websites of funny/entertaining video…for whatever reason, a few of these websites have deemed these “entertaining”. Stop hitting each other. Don’t be dumb. (Oh, and the “adult” fights? Even dumber).

Here’s the reason why the Chicago Cubs are terrible…this email came from our owner, Tom Ricketts via Cubs.com…

We have to put the team and the fans first. So today we are asking the City of Chicago to approve a revised expansion plan that includes our original proposal to add several signs and a revised seating configuration in the outfield. If approved, we are prepared to get construction started.

Oh, I see…if we just had signs…we’d be winners. Here, let me throw some hashtags at you…#hopeless #stillgreedy #BacktotheFuture2waswrongitwonthappenin2015

Can you figure out if the face painter is back at the Blank Park Zoo this year? 🙂

A story came out this morning that Axl Rose is going to take a break from music…umm..what exactly has he been doing for the past, oh, I don’t know, 20+ years? Yes, Axl, please…take it easy…you have a busy schedule of not doing anything.

I thought the Modern Family wedding last night was very sweet. It was much sweeter than watching the Blackhawks lose in that fashion. Ugh.

As a bowler…this is most impressive. Challenge accepted. How far is it from the door at Plaza Lanes to the pins?

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to plan my month of October. Pearl Jam announced a fall tour…and with stops in Lincoln, NE (finally serving a purpose Lincoln, ha ha)…Moline…St. Paul…and more…there are many travel preparations that are needed!

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!
