Kurt’s Blog: Baconfest & Grammys Recap

Baconfest

It lived up to the hype…it was AWESOME.

Here I am drinking bacon/maple shots out of an ice pig.

Note: Jay had an accident on Friday night…he fell down…and hurt his face, so of course, as his friends, we spent the day pretending to beat him up. Note #2: Jay is fine, and probably faking this. He should have gotten an eye patch, ha ha!

Baconfest is AWESOME. It’s nothing but bacon foods & beer…and it’s as good as it sounds.

I don’t know where to start…with a bacon cookie? bacon cupcake? bacon explosion sandwiches (I had three of them), the bacon pizza from Gusto? Or, just the bacon lollipop (which was just bacon rolled up and on a stick).

I think bacon lollipop was my favorite…less grease on my fingers, and more bacon in my belly.

Did I eat all the bacon that I could? No. I still had room somehow to head to Zombie Burger with my dad & son, and ordered a double Hamityville Horror burger, featuring a variety of bacon on it as well.

Definitely hoping that we get the chance to go back next year (selfishly because I have 5 drink tickets remaining, ha ha), but mainly, because it’s such a good time, and a really well put together event.

Yes, it was crowded, but I didn’t feel crowed…and lines for the bathroom? You put 8,000 bacon lovers together, and that’s bound to happen anytime.

I meant to take more pictures, but to be honest…was having such a good time that I totally forgot.

Shoutouts to: my wife, Ryan, Woz, Tracy, Jay,  Heather, Luke, Chris, Jon (welcome to America buddy), and Carrie (sorry Jon is allowed to stay, ha ha)…good times.

The Grammys

Thought the Grammys last night was excellent. I felt like it was good pace, didn’t have too many downtimes, and thought the performances were outstanding.

Highlights:
Fun.

I thought Fun. was the best thing about the Grammys last night…their performance was AWESOME. Adding the rain was just an added bit of greatness.

Justin Timberlake

I was on the fence with his new stuff…but he was AWESOME, and his album will be crazy good.

Miguel

Great singer, great song.

Carrie Underwood

I thought she looked amazing…and sounded great. To be honest, the whole electrical dress thing didn’t seem all the great. I felt like it’s been done before, and the way they were hyping it, well, it just seemed a letdown. Still though, it’s a highlight…because it’s Carrie Underwood, and she can do no wrong.

Frank Ocean besting Chris Brown

Anyone besting Chris Brown is a great thing…sore loser.

Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars & Fun. need to come to Des Moines…and fast!

Taylor Swift

I thought the opening with Taylor Swift was excellent…and never once thought for a second that Taylor Swift was using a British accent to dis Harry Styles. Maybe I just wasn’t paying attention? I thought, if anything, she was just using a “dopey guy” voice. Now, maybe if she had put Jake Gylenhaal up on that weird dartboard thing, I would have seen more of a connection.

Did I mention that Fun. was AWESOME?

Wait…Prince Was There?

He was there right…that wasn’t some body double from Weekend at Bernies was it? Seriously…a cane now? The hood? And he said 7 words. The comeback begins?

How old is Prince? 55, tops? He shouldn’t be that frail, right?

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!
