The Adam Emmenecker Sandwich Challenge
Well…next time you’re at the Waukee Jethro’s…look at the Wall of Shame…there’s a new member on the board. It was me…in depressing fashion.
4 years ago…I ate the whole sandwich & fries in about 18 minutes…so on Saturday night, at my buddy Corey’s bachelor party, I thought I’d give it a shot…and I…did not succeed.
It was a lot bigger than I remembered…I don’t remember the 1 lb of fries, and I did NOT remember the second pork tenderloin.
If you don’t know this sandwich…(I think they’ll send me a picture eventually)…but it’s 5 lbs of food….it’s a steak burger…with 2 pork tenderloins, 2 buffalo chicken tenders, 2-3 fried cheese thingees, brisket, bacon, all covered in cheese…and 1 lb of fries.
It’s a monster.
They set the timer at 15 minutes…and I dug in.
I went right after the tenderloin first (my least favorite part)…it was way too hot, burned my mouth, but I didn’t slow down…finished that, and went after the buffalo chicken tender…then the brisket, then the bacon…then the other tender…then the cheese…then some fries…then started on the burger. I was about 9 minutes in at this point…I was beginning to slow down…but I still had hope. Then I saw it, the “hidden” pork tenderloin.
It slapped me in the face. Any false sense of confidence that I still had immediately vanished. I tried putting it in my mouth…it fell out. So I went back to the burger…I could…not…swallow it. I attacked the fries…the fries won.
When I was done…I probably got around halfway through…and I was not feeling well.
Over the next two hours…I sat there…a “bit” uncomfortable…visited the restroom 3 times. Then, as the bachelor party began to head to the bars…I headed home. On the way home, I pulled over to the side of University…
…and puked….a lot…and I felt much better.
It was too much for me….but it is a delicious sandwich. I’d buy it again…and split it with 3 of my friends.You win Adam Emmenecker…you win.
Mama Duck
Mama Duck has returned to her nest in our backyard. She’s only there for about 3 hours everyday, but she’s definitely made the area behind our gutter her & her 7-8 eggs her new home. Mama Duck, we are happy to have you as our guests!

Oh, next time, I need to go to the website and check on where the finish line is…I like the change to 12th & Grand…I was just expecting it to be closer to the Farmer’s Market. It’s all good though, I handle the double-wagon like a boss!
