Kurt’s Blog: Darn You Von Maur Piano Player

We were walking through Von Maur on Saturday afternoon, and the Von Maur Piano Player was playing a little ditty on the piano…couldn’t figure it out…it sounded very familiar, but I couldn’t place it.

That irritated me for a good 15 minutes then I figured it out…it was “For Good” from Wicked.

Then it bothered it me that I couldn’t remember what the words were…and then I had to go home and listen to the Itunes preview of it.

All of this…just due to a fantastic pianist doin’ her thing.

By the way, tonight, when some friends and I get together for the Packers/Bears game, the fact that I’m talking about a showtune will be brought up almost immediately.

Eric: “how are ya?”

Kurt: I’m good.

Sully: You like musicals.

Everyone: hahahahhahaa….

Yep, that’s how it’ll go.

The $100 Brainfart.

Yep…ran a red light…well, didn’t even run it…I just had a brainfart. I was turning left…and the light was green for the other lanes…I must have seen the green light, and thought I could turn left after yielding to traffic.

I watched the video…and there’s the minivan…slowing to a stop in the middle of the intersection…waiting for traffic to pass, and I take a normal left….just like I would have it if was a yellow arrow.

Just a complete brainfart….I was impressed at how well I yielded to traffic…and was completely a courteous driver…but it was definitely illegal.

LONGEST DAY EVER

I almost didn’t make it yesterday…I really didn’t. That time change absolutely killed me.

Our son woke up at 5 (6:00 in his own mind, so I’m not faulting him on that, daughter up at 5:30)…by 7:30…we had already watched Monsters University & 2 episodes of Jake & Neverland Pirates.

8:40 – I go to HyVee

9:45 – Go to Target because I forgot milk at HyVee (and can’t go back to HyVee, they’ve already seen my face this morning)

10:15 – Go to Buy Buy Baby

10:40 – I’m exhausted…and football is still over an hour away. This is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous

Noon – Football finally starts…son doesn’t want to nap, thank you to my daughter for napping.

12:25 – Go downstairs with son to play (he doesn’t want to watch football)

I play downstairs with him for awhile…I go upstairs to go to the bathroom thinking it’s at least 2:30…it’s only 1:15. 1:15?! What is going on?!

5:00 – Dinner finally gets here.

6:00 – Bath time…6:20 rolls around…bath time is over…and there’s still an hour & half before bedtime. I’m exhausted…and just ready for the day to be over.

7:45 – Both kids are out like lights…done…they’re more exhausted than I am.

10:15 – Finally decide to go to bed…why so late? Football. Arrgh.

I don’t know how many times I said disparaging remarks about farmers yesterday…because in my brain, they are the sole ones responsible for the time change.

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!
