Kurt’s Blog: Getting Ready for the Dexter Finale

The Final Episode

http://youtu.be/TJ5FUEBm_oU

The final episode of Dexter airs Sunday night at Showtime…and it’ll end a nearly 7 year relationship my wife & I have with the show.

Remember that writer’s strike? It was a great thing (except for all the crappy, crappy reality shows that were exposed to)…as CBS decided to air a very edited version of Dexter to fill programming.

After the first episode, we were hooked, and we haven’t missed an episode since.

As we approach the final episode, we are a divided house. Jennifer is confident that it will end the way she hopes…with Dexter living happily ever after…I can’t stand that ending…so I think I’m going to be disappointed.

I’ve felt that this whole final season has been rather unexciting…and rather un-Dexter-like. We haven’t had one…NOT ONE…kill room death. How is this possible? We’ve only been on the Slice of Life twice…and once was with Deb & the incredibly irritating Dr. Vogel.

I hope…I HOPE…I’m not disappointed with the ending. What do I want? I want to see Dexter on a table…he doesn’t have to be killed…but I want that scene…or…OR…I want him to be revealed as a serial killer. He deserves the recognition as the Bay Harbor Butcher.

He’s really just going to run off to Argentina with Hannah & Harrison, and that’s it? No, please, no.

Everything about the above photo irritates me…arrrgh…I do NOT care about the love story.

If I have to listen to Dexter tell his issues to Hannah one more time…and her reaction…every time…EVERY time is …”Dexter, oh God”….ugh…double-up ugh, ugh.

Ever since Hannah was introduced last season, there has been a huge lull in the action…a severe lack of kills…and a much tamer, more confused Dexter…I hope Hannah gets caught. There, done.

7. Deb

6. Trinity

5. Harry Morgan

4. Zach Hamilton (while only a brief appearance, he was hilarious)

3. Vince Masooka

2. Batista

1. Dexter (obviously)

Worst characters? Hannah, Harrison (yes, the kid…that kid actor is terrible…I wish he had gone and lived with Cody & the girl with the grandparents), and of course, Lila. It was her British accent…it just got so irritating.

Final Thoughts

It will be a sad night seeing the screen go dark (no matter how I feel about the ending). This was the first show my wife & I sat down and really watched together. It was can’t miss for us.

I will miss my wife getting stressed everytime Dexter breaks into someone’s home to snoop around…plus, I will miss my wife asking me to pause it every now and then so she could take a breath.

I’ve already been informed that Sunday will be a night filled with PF Changs…and wine.

Dexter finale…75 minute, commercial free Breaking Bad? Craziness.

AWESOME is as AWESOME does
