Happy Birthday SuperDude
My son Dexter turns 3 tomorrow…and he could not be more excited about his birthday. It’s so funny watching a kid grow up and see him circle things he wants for his birthday…and before, you could get him a cake, and he’d just be happy, but tomorrow, he’d like a “Spiderman Cake”. You got it bud.
I’m so proud of you…and I’m so proud to be your dad. You are such an unbelievable little guy…and a great big brother…and a wonderful son. Stop growing up so fast…I don’t like that.
Your mom, sister, and I wish you the happiest of birthdays tomorrow…and we just love you so darn much.
Oh…and seriously, Dexter, you are the funniest person I have ever met…the stuff you say cracks me and your mom up everyday. Don’t ever lose that sense of fun & humor. I love you buddy.
“Deep Fried”
We were so impressed with the State Fair parody “Deep Fried” (Blurred Lines parody) that Branden Oliver made for us…it was incredible, and we’re really glad you all seemed to really enjoy it too.
He’s the nicest guy, and hopefully really good things happen for him!

Planes
Dexter is super-excited for the new movie “Planes” out today…Jennifer was going take him, but we might hold off until it’s at the drive-in in Newton. Don’t tell Dexter, but he’s getting some “Planes” stuff for his b-day tomorrow.
Other Movies
“Elysium” & “We’re the Millers” are both out today…and our friend Grae Drake, from RottenTomatoes.com, says they’re both excellent…and thinks “We’re the Millers” is absolutely hilarious. That’s more than a good enough endorsement for me.
Breaking Bad
2 days away…it returns…My Sunday nights just got longer in the best way possible.
8:00…watch Dexter while recording Breaking Bad…
8:00-8:10- decompress after Dexter…
8:15 – Begin Breaking Bad.
10:00 – finally go to sleep.

The 25 Year Anniversary
Yesterday was August 8th…and 25 years prior on 8/8/88…the first night game at Wrigley Field…and someone un-Earthed this fantastic clip (which I remember vividly, and I was only 10)
Of course, in true Cubs’ fashion, the game got rained out after the 2nd inning…I clearly remember 8/9/88 as well…when the Cubs played the Phillies, and the Phillies CF Lenny Dykstra went to go make a catch near the Ivy, and got soaked with beer. Cubs Night Baseball was born at that moment.
