Kurt’s Blog: I Sort of Defend Miley Cyrus, Ugh.

When you see the headline:
“Miley Cyrus Charging $1000 for VIP Packages”…

it instantly hits the eye/ear wrong…but then you look at it…(and don’t get me wrong, this is

Miley Cyrus performs on the 'Today' show

obscenely expensive), but at least you get a front row ticket…some Miley stuff…and a picture with her.

If you had the $$ to spend (I don’t, but do want to see her in Omaha on March 6th) on something like that, it’s not that bad.

My wife would really like to go to Vegas to see Britney Spears in February…I clicked on one of their meet & greet packages, and they’re about $2,500-$3000…so, that’s ridiculous (but again, I want to go to that show too).

I also will bring up Bon Jovi….and I like Bon Jovi, but I’ve heard many fans complain about how he doesn’t do any meet & greets and stuff like that. There are Bon Jovi VIP Packages…and those are about $1000 as well…and you get a backstage “experience”…which means you can take photos of Tico’s drum kit, and Jon’s mic stand….and you get a poster or something like that (oh, and in some cases, you get tickets in the first ten rows).

Musically, I’d prefer Bon Jovi…but if I’m spending $1000 on a VIP package, I’ll take the Miley one, hands down.

Most of us will never probably ever face this dilemma…it’s hard enough finding money just for a regular ticket. I keep old tickets stubs, and I found them as I was cleaning through some stuff…and I saw Robert Plant & Jimmy Page in 1994 for $28…Pearl Jam in 1995 (from a scalper)..for $65. Foo Fighters in 1997? $21. It’s crazy how expensive concerts have become since then.

Wow…I defended Miley Cyrus a lot here…I’m going to go take a shower.

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!
