Kurt’s Blog: If You’re a Parent of a 5/6 Year Old, You Know This Isn’t Simba….

Parents with kids under 6/7…you know what this is all about Disney’s new show “The Lion Guard”.

Boy…oh boy…you know what will make a 5 1/2 & 4 year old yell at you…when you say…hey,it’s Simba.

NO DADDY…THAT’S KION!!!

Holy cow…it was like I got their names wrong or something. Silly dad, thinking that a show on Disney…with a lion that looks just like Simba…might actually be Simba from the Lion King.

Dad…it’s the Lion Guard.

My daughter might as well have just put a “duh” at the end of that. Get it together dad…seriously.

Well, I then made it a point to be well-versed in The Lion Guard…and now, I’m researching exactly what a honey badger is (because for 3 episodes, I couldn’t figure out what Bunga was).

So, as told to me by my son…Kion is the son of Simba…that makes sense now…hence the resemblance…and Kion wants to start the Lion Guard…which is a group of animals that will protect the Prideland….there’s Kion, a cheetah…Bunga…Poombah and Timon are back…and a hippo…rhino? No, hippo. From what it seems, they are battling the hyenas still left over from Scar’s reign of terror.

It’s a good show…I admit, I like it a lot…and the songs are darn catchy.

And with that…a Zuka Zama to all of us parents…(I understand 4 words of this song)

Oh, and if you see me walking around Target singing “Zuka Zama”…that means I’m happy 🙂

‘Scary Movie’ tops box office, slaying ‘Masters of the Universe’ and adding to low-budget streak

The summer box office is booming — but not because of the usual suspects. After three weeks of indie horror dominance at the box office, the slasher spoof "Scary Movie" topped ticket sales with $55 million over the weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday, easily besting the far-from-mighty "Masters of the Universe."

Carolina trails Vegas in the Stanley Cup Final and has a big decision to make for Game 4

A sequence of events in a Stanley Cup Final that has gotten crazier by the minute has put the Carolina Hurricanes at a crossroads. They blew a two-goal lead and lost Game 1, erased a two-goal deficit and won Game 2, and rallied from down four goals in Game 3, only to lose in double overtime on a fluky bounce.
