Kurt’s Blog: I’m Not Emotionally or Mentally Prepared For This

It’s all falling apart….in my world of sports.

First the good….

The mighty, mighty Des Moines Menace have made it to the Championship Game…and it’s Saturday at Valley Stadium. More on this later in the week, but those games, this team…are awesome. We’ve been to three in the past week, and already have our tickets for Saturday night.

Note: In the past 8 days, we have been to 4 pro soccer games (1 Sporting KC, 3 Menace). Love it.

Now…where it all falls apart.

As you all know…I bleed blue for the Cubbies….and my Sundays live and die with the Packers…and this week, it could all fall apart.

Let’s start with the Packers…

Aaron Rodgers…what…are…you…doing? Are you coming back or not? Do you not remember all the drama 14 years ago with Favre? I’m in the minority of Packers fans who can no longer stand Favre. When he went to play for the Vikings, I swore him off…and still do…and I don’t know if I can do that twice with Rodgers.

Let’s go dude, suck it up…go win a Super Bowl this year, and then head off. All this stupid drama is just…well, stupid. Now, Davante Adams is getting in on it with his contract talks…and the stupid joint “Last Dance” photo on IG? C’mon.

Hey, Aaron, why not just let the fans in on it a little? I have been on your side since the get go, but each day that passes, I become a little more sour. At one point or another, we’ve all had bosses that we haven’t cared for, but we suck it up, we go to work, and deal with it. So, deal with it.

Okay, now onto where it gets very tough for me…

The Chicago Cubs.

I’m not mentally or emotionally prepared for this.

Over the offseason…they parted ways with Kyle Schwarber and Jon Lester. That hurt. There were all the rumors that Kris Bryant might be traded as well…and that hurt.

Now, here we are, approaching this week’s trade deadline, and there’s a lot of smoke that only could my beloved KB get moved…but so might Rizzo and Baez?

I can’t even begin to tell you the amount of disappointment…nay, despair…I will feel. The amount of sadness to see Bryant, Rizzo, and Baez get shipped off for players we won’t see for another 2-3 years will be absolutely brutal.

Again, financials is a thing. Understood. But, you’re the Cubs…I feel that I alone have invested enough money in my life to them that I could pay for at least one of Kris Bryant’s contract years.

DO NOT TRADE KRIS BRYANT.

DO NOT TRADE JAVY BAEZ.

DO NOT TRADE ANTHONY RIZZO.

LIVE IN FINANCIAL RUIN FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS…I DON’T CARE. YOU’RE THE CUBS. FIGURE IT OUT. YOU’RE CHARGING $12 A BEER…YOU CAN FIND THE MONEY.

DON’T TRADE THEM.

DON’T DO IT.

I HATE TYPING IN CAPS…BUT IT’S THE EASIEST WAY TO CONVEY ANGER, FRUSTRATION, AND YELLING.

In summation…

Aaron Rodgers….get over it.

Cubs…lay low this week.
