Secret Sounds Observations
Ahh…I was happy to hear the guess “Riding the Tornado at Adventureland” yesterday. I don’t know what Secret Sound #3 is, but every time we do Secret Sound, “Riding the Tornado at Adventureland” is always guessed. It’s like a Secret Sound tradition!
Also, the Secret Street Sound? I’m totally stumped. I thought I had an idea…but every time I hear it, I change my mind.

The Closing of Hooters
A few years ago, my buddy Sully and I did a much bally-hooed (how about that for a word today) Wing Tour, where we went to 10 different locations and ranked their wings. Since then, whenever there are buffalo wing-related events (like the closing of the West Des Moines Hooters), my friends come to me.
This was a common text I got yesterday:
“Where did Hooters wings come in on the list?”
My reply:
“Last”.
I was never a fan of their wings…not enough meat, and the skin was just too gristly. However, their grilled cheese sandwich was excellent…and for reasons that I’d rather not say (okay, here’s why…I was interning for another station in our building, and was out at the Hooters every Wednesday for half a year…and tried to eat healthy for two weeks)…but their Cobb Salad was excellent.
