This will come as no shocker…but I’m easily confused…and when it comes to sci-fi stuff, even though I love it, I usually end up being even more confused than normal.
Welcome back X-Files.
I was only planning on recording the premiere last night, but since the Panthers post-game celebration never ended, the DVR was going to miss the first 22 minutes of X-Files, so in effort not to miss a moment, I stayed up to watch….and was glad I did.
As soon as the opening sequence hit, it brought back all of the fond memories I had of X-Files…the excitement, the mystery, and the dread…the dread that there’s a 75% chance that I won’t understand the episode.
A trip back to Roswell to start off the show? Fantastic….you have got my attention.
My wife was watching casually for the first 10 minutes, but when she saw Mulder & Scully on screen for the first time, she immediately looked up and said “Wow, this takes me back”.
The “premiere” had it all…Mulder being drenched in conspiracy talk…and Scully being her normal skeptical self…midnight meetings in the National Mall.
The charm of the old episodes are definitely there…as is the intrigue…and the special effects are on such a bigger scale and more seemless.
We’ve been misled…what if everything we worked for is wrong?
The “twist” at the end is fantastic…and I think I actually even understood it (and the “reveal” at the end had me creeped out sufficiently). The theory the episode proposed actually makes sense…and like I just mentioned…I’m creeped out…and now, I’m questioning everyone.
I understood the X-files…I feel smarter today. The truth is out there…hopefully we’ll find out what it is in these 6 episodes.
