There are things that I’m good at…ice skating was never one of them. I went once with my
wife years ago…and promptly displayed my lack of skills. She was circling backwards around Brenton Skating Plaza…I left that morning with wet jeans, and a sore backside. Good times.
Fast forward a few years…and you have a daughter…and boom…you’re suddenly in ice skating lessons 🙂
Saturday morning was our first lesson, and I couldn’t believe how well my daughter did.
Priscilla had never put on skates before…and look at her go!
What did I learn? I learned how to move forward…and I learned how to stop…which was a lot less painful than my old way…which was rocketing into the wall/barrier on the side of the rink. Oh, and I can almost, sorta turn…I say almost, because sometimes, it’s not by choice. Oh, and I also learned the front of the skate blade is only used for jumping…and not stopping…nobody told me that a few years ago. I thought that was the brakes!
Priscilla left her ice skating lesson asking immediately when we get to do it again…I told her, next Saturday..at which points she said “Dad, you fell on your booty…I didn’t fall on my booty…can we get hot chocolate?”
You bet sweetheart.
It was a great morning, and it felt good to be able to do something that made feel like I was actually enjoying winter.
Get all the details on lessons here! Not only are the teachers super nice (and patient, ha ha)…but there’s a class for every skill level, so I never felt like I was being made fun of or anything like that. Plus, signing up for lessons also come with some very nice perks that you’ll have to check out as well!
