When it comes to being a handyman, I would give myself a C+. It’s solid work…but by no means, anything special. Shelf needs to be hung up? You can count on me to make those holes…okay, it might take a couple of tries to get it straight, but I always try and do it in a way where the shelf will cover up all the “mistakes”.
Wall anchors? Sure, the instructions say to use them…but they cause me more headaches than anything else. Wall anchors for last-ditch efforts.
However…in the next few months, my skills will increase 10-fold. Maybe even 11-fold?
It all comes from t he announcement of the DIY Network’s new show “Mr. T’s ‘I Pity the Tool'” .

First off…most AWESOME name of a show ever. Second off…it will inspire me to learn…and become the world’s greatest handyman.
But, also, more importantly…
I hope this inspires a whole new line of Mr. T. related self-help shows…
A show on how to deal with a newborn/infant…
“Mr. T’s ‘I Pity the Drool'”
A show on how to deal with incontinence…
“Mr. T”s ‘I Pity the Stool'”
A show on how to spot fake engagement rings…
“Mr. T’s ‘I Pity the Jewel.'”
A show on how to ace all your upcoming tests & exams…
“Mr. T’s ‘I Pity the School'”
A show on how to train your donkey…
“Mr. T’s ‘I Pity the Mule'”
And of course…a Christmas-themed episode…
“Mr. T’s ‘I Pity the Yule'”
All genius…and all shows I would set DVR season passes for.
Growing up, my grandma lived in Lake Forest, Illinois…and who lived about about 4 blocks away from her house? Mr. T. Darn right. I saw him twice, driving down the street…in a red convertible sports car of some sort, and he had it all…the mohawk, the chains, I waved once…I think he waved back…but he might have been swatting away a fly.
Mr. T is an American Treasure. That’s right…American Treasure. Right up there with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson!
Mr. T….teach me all you know about how to be a better handyman…I’m ready to learn.
AWESOME is as AWESOME does!
