Kurt’s Blog: Maybe the Kids Weren’t Ready for That Ride

Iowa/Iowa State Rivalry

Well, well, look what ended up on my neighbor Mike’s lawn…ha ha.

During the hour prior to the game, my wife & I got a huge kick out of watching people walk by…laugh…stare…and even snap a pic.

Adventureland

Prior to kickoff on Saturday, Jennifer & I took the kids to Adventureland…and went on the Log Run…and decided we were the worst parents ever.

Dexter loved it…Priscilla, umm…did not. She & Jennifer were in the front (I thought you would get wetter if you were in the back…I was wrong). Priscilla & Jennifer got soaked on that very first small drop…which resulted in instant screaming…and the purchase of this…

She loved getting a new outfit with a puppy on it…all smiles.

Oh, the Frog Hopper? Consider that Dexter’s favorite new thing ever…he only rode it 4 times (and it would have been 5).

Going Potty in Public

The trip to Adventureland was our first big public outing since Dexter has been potty-trained…so we were a little on edge about it.

However, he actually went twice in the urinal….it was AWESOME. I learned an important thing…the tops of garbage cans can be removed and used as a stool. Perfect. (I was actually very proud of myself for thinking of that one). Success!

Breaking Bad (SPOILER…Stop reading if you haven’t seen last night’s epsiode yet)…I’ll leave some room here…)

“I watched Jane die”

Those 4 words broke my heart…my jaw dropped…I actually started crying. Holy cow, what has this show done to me. I was devasted for Jesse. That absolutely blew me away. I had a feeling that they would eventually have to reveal that Walt stood by and watched Jane die…but that was the cruelest way imagineable.

It definitely took the sting out of Hank dying. Bye Hank…oh, and by Gomez.

Hey Walt Jr…stop being such a putz. Immediately calling 911? Skyler was the one who drew the knife and sliced Walt…Walt’s trying to get the knife back. Had Walt Jr. ended up falling on the knife accidentally, I would have been fine with that.

That final phone call was brilliant…getting Skyler off the hook…and letting his family be…and thank you for immediately dropping Holly off at the Fire Department.

We watched the 2nd-to-last-episode of Dexter last night too…and it’s just such a change of pace in the show. This final season of Dexter is such a slow-burn…and seriously, Dexter better kill someone in this final episode. It seems like it’s been too long since Dexter has killed. I’ve always said, I don’t want to see a non-serial killer Dexter…he is what he is.

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!

‘Scary Movie’ tops box office, slaying ‘Masters of the Universe’ and adding to low-budget streak

The summer box office is booming — but not because of the usual suspects. After three weeks of indie horror dominance at the box office, the slasher spoof "Scary Movie" topped ticket sales with $55 million over the weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday, easily besting the far-from-mighty "Masters of the Universe."

Carolina trails Vegas in the Stanley Cup Final and has a big decision to make for Game 4

A sequence of events in a Stanley Cup Final that has gotten crazier by the minute has put the Carolina Hurricanes at a crossroads. They blew a two-goal lead and lost Game 1, erased a two-goal deficit and won Game 2, and rallied from down four goals in Game 3, only to lose in double overtime on a fluky bounce.
