I’m a Jurassic Park super-fan…and am feeling very nostalgic with Jurassic World opening tomorrow. I have such fond memories of seeing JP in the theater 3 times…buying the soundtrack…collecting the cups from…I think it was McDonalds. I see the new Jurassic World Lego sets…and I’m tempted. I try to prod my son in that direction…but he remains stubborn in his love for Star Wars Lego sets. Fine, whatever 🙂
As I’ve found out recently, though, Colleen is also a big fan…and there’s a 27% chance we might even go to the movie together on Friday after the show.
This led to a discussion…and a friendly wager….and it’s in regards to the infamous can of Barbasol shaving cream.
This was the first we saw of the Barbasol can…
and this was one of the final times we saw the can…
The video cuts off…but the Barbasol can becomes buried in a deluge of mud….never to be found again…or maybe found again?
The whole premise of Jurassic World is that the previous sequels didn’t happen…never existed…which is great news. We’ll pick up from Jurassic Park, the original.
This thought never crossed my mind that the Barbasol can would ever be mentioned again…but Colleen brought up the notion that perhaps the can was found, and that’s what leads to Jurassic World.
Colleen argues that the Barbasol can will be found…and it’s those embryos that they will use to make more dinosaurs, and thus lead to the creation of Jurassic World.
I think that the can will forever be buried…and Jurassic World forms after they were able to get the dinosaurs (still left from Jurassic Park, and living naturally on Isla Nublar) under control…and that’s that.
Colleen is so sure the can has a significant role, and I’m so sure it doesn’t…that we’ve made a wager. Not a financial wager…not a wager of presents…but a wager of pride.
Whoever is correct will get the title of “Best Predictor of Movies” for the next given year. This is a title that I love having…a title I never want to relinquish. When Colleen threw this wager on the table…I jumped at it….but now, I’m having serious doubts.
First, I did a little Googlin’, and found that one of the Jurassic Park video games is based entirely on the finding of the Barbasol can. Darn it…that makes it at least a possibility. Grrr….the more I think about it….
I think Colleen is right.
I’ll try and muster the strength to write it again.
I think Colleen is right.
Ugh.
However…as Dr. Ian Malcom believes…the “Chaos Theory” could apply: First, that complex systems like weather have an underlying order. Second, the reverse of that-that simple systems can produce complex behavior.
Chaos Theory Coll…it’s my redemption here!
AWESOME is as AWESOME does!
