This past Saturday, my wife got to do something few have been lucky enough to do…enjoy a day playing football with the Iowa Hawkeyes.
It was the 6th Annual Iowa Ladies Football Academy, and from what Jennifer has told me, it was one of the most fun days she’s ever had (and her photos from the event have left me completely jealous! 🙂
(that guy looks familiar)
With CJ Beathard
Desmond King?!!! Awesome!
With former Hawkeye great, Mark Weisman
My wife along with over 400 other incredible ladies got to spend all of Saturday running drills with the Hawkeyes players, getting tips from the coaches, tours of locker rooms/weight rooms…and so much more that my wife keeps remembering every few hours.
Just last night, she looked at me, and said, “Oh yeah, I got to try the nutrition bars they make for players too”. (she says this as I’m dunking a double-Stuft Oreo, ha ha).
It was a day just for the ladies…the kids and I spent the day at the Iowa Children’s Museum, and walking around Iowa City, and every now and then, we’d look up on the big screen inside Kinnick and see the women running the drills, and it looked like an absolute blast.
The entire ride back to Urbandale, my wife dropped little tidbits here and there…a “oh yeah, I forgot, I caught pass from CJ Beathard while Desmond King was guarding me”…or “the quarterback coach told me I had to do the drill again because my footwork wasn’t right”.
A big thank you to Mary Ferentz and all of her staff for putting on this fantastic event…a big thank you to all the ladies who came out to enjoy the day on Saturday, and a big thank you to all the families of the UI Children’s Hospital for always continuing to display what it is really like to be Hawkeye strong!
Next year…mark your calendars…Saturday, June 10th, 2017.
Congratulations on raising over $346,000…and, you can still donate now….www.iowaladiesfootballacademy.com , all the money raised goes straight to being the UI Children’s Hospital..
