Kurt’s Blog: Now, THAT’s How You End a Series

(BREAKING BAD SPOILERS…but if you’re anywhere on the Internet today, it’s going to be spoiled for you…but good luck to you in your attempt to live off the grid, ha ha)

And thus ends Breaking Bad.

What a fantastic series finale…all other shows, take note…that’s how you wrap a series. You answer questions, you have a big payoff, and you have closure with your characters…oh, and while doing all that, you don’t leave your audience disappointed.

(Although I would have enjoyed Walter White driving off into a hurricane (stupid Dexter finale)).

There’s not much to discuss really…there’s no unanswered questions really.

Walter White….sees his family one last time…reveals Hank’s final resting place (which I predicted…but I’m not too proud of myself, my other 16 predictions were wrong…unless there’s a spin-off show involving Jesse & Brock…at 6 Flags Albuquerque (I don’t know how to spell it)), rescues Jesse…and gets his revenge on Jack, Todd, and the rest of the merry band of Nazis…all while having the time to poison Lyida? Fantastic.

It had moments of joy…triumph…suspense…and tears…how could you not tear up when Walter was saying good-bye to Holly?

Plus..PLUS…the return of Badger & Skinny Pete. That was great.

My favorite Walter White ploy was what he did to Elliott & Gretchen. Brilliant. I’d much rather just want to be shot on sight than live my entire life looking over my shoulder for a hitman.

They will have to abide by Walt’s rules…and even then, they’ll always be looking over their shoulder…wherever they go. That was such a good revenge tactic. Well done Walter White.

I’m sort of torn on the fate of Jesse though…half of me was happy to see him drive off into the darkness…but the other half was ready to see him die. I couldn’t have been happier though to see him choke out Todd. Good night Todd..ya weirdo.

Just a great series finale…and I was very surprised to find myself smiling at the end. Yes, Walt was dead, but he died by his way, and that was very satisfying.

Tonight

Nine Inch Nails in Kansas City. I can’t wait…I’ve never seen NIN, and I could not be more anticipating this concert. The first tour stop was on Saturday night in Minneapolis…24 songs! This bodes well for tonight! Jeremy Plagman…do you have your black t-shirt from Hot Topic yet? Let’s do this.

Good Movie News

My wife took Dexter to see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2….and both loved it. He came home so excited…it might have been influenced by Skittles & Gummy Bears, but whatever, ha ha. Taco dinosaurs & cheeseburger spiders? AWESOME!

Other Good Movie News

Jennifer Lawrence is apparently going to be in the Dumb & Dumber sequel….and even better…(and it’s tough to be better than Jennifer Lawrence)…but remember the blind kid that was in the first one? The one that Lloyd tricked into buying his decapitated bird? He’s back too!! Yes!

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!
