Kurt’s Blog: Sayonara 2020!

The switch to a new year never mattered to me much…it’s just a number, but holy cripes, seeing 2020 turn into 2021 will be such a relief. Will anything change overnight? Of course not, but hope is fun to have…and I like hope.

Of course, 2021 will start on a sour note…with The Office no longer being on Netflix. I don’t even know how to cope with that. The Office has been my (and many of yours) stand-by show. If I needed something to just watch and unwind…it was The Office. I’ve probably watched the entire series 7 times all the way through…and the first 4-5 seasons a least a dozen times. I will miss it terribly…probably will replace it with Friends on HBO Max…

Or…Cobra Kai Season 3. But…BUT…If Season 3 is all about Kreese (Crease?) , then I fear not so great things for Season 3.

Alright, back to to the most important thing…

A HUGE THANK YOU!

Thank you to you for continuing to listen to the show…thank you for allowing me the chance to live my dream job...thank you for being there for us when we needed you too. Morning radio isn’t just us trying to entertain…morning radio is an open conversation between you and us, and especially in this time where it’s tough to see anyone with ease, the hearing of your voices was always a comforting relief.

I know many of you that still haven’t even returned to “normal” hours, and we hope everything can be somewhat “usual” in the next few months.

We’d wonder, hey, do you know who hasn’t called the show in a long time? Mike in Johnston…or Heather in Norwalk...and then in October, we heard from both of them, and they both said in their own way “Holy cow, this is the first time I’ve been in my car on the way to work since March…I missed you guys”. We missed you too.

I miss so much of it. I miss walking through the aisles of Target and being able to recognize faces. If I’ve walked past you and you’ve said hi, and I just gave a casual hi back instead of having a convo, I apologize. I’m not good at reading eyes…and I know I’ve given the high eyebrows/open eyes combo to some of you that I thought I knew…only to realize that that person thought I was just a crazy person with big eyes and strange brows LOL.

I’ve made a list of things I want to accomplish in 2021, and one of them is to blog more…and I’m going to warn you right now, a lot of it is going to be non-sensical ramblings. Some of it might make sense every now and then.

By the way, just because this blog will be like a box of chocolates….how sucky was yesterday afternoon?

We all could have been camped out, watching the MIGHTY HAWKEYES beat the heck out of Missouri, but no. That was such a bummer.

Also, the Cubs…holy (combine all of the swear words at once right now)….this is just terrible. Darvish, Schwarber, Caratini…all gone…and more to come. Almora too. This is going to suck…hurt…and hurt some more. Oh, and Lester is gone too. You know, just take every bit of my heart! YOU’RE TEARING ME APART LESTER!

BACK TO HOPE!

Yes!

Here’s hoping that 2021 is obviously much much happier, much easier, much friendlier, and much more the way you expected/hoped 2020 would be.

Much love. Much thanks. Much hope for the future!
