Kurt’s Blog: The Awesomeness of Chris Cornell

Was shocked this morning to hear the news of Chris Cornell‘s unexpected passing…absolutely shocked.

When I was hitting my influential music-listening years…there was a common sound coming from my bedroom…Pearl Jam…Soundgarden…Alice in Chains…Nirvana…and Temple of the Dog.

Those discs/tapes got…worn…out. Spoonman….Outshined…played over and over and over.

Chris Cornell’s voice on the Temple of the Dog album is rock perfection…”Say Hello 2 Heaven”….”Times of Trouble”…and of course, he and Eddie on “Hunger Strike”. It’s no surprise why the TOTD album is one of my all-time favorites.

I never saw Chris Cornell in concert ve unfortunately….I remember when he was here back in 2012 performing at Living History Farms for a gathering for President Obama…and I regretted not seizing that opportunity by going.

Anything Chris Cornell lent his voice to…I wanted to hear it.

‘Scary Movie’ tops box office, slaying ‘Masters of the Universe’ and adding to low-budget streak

The summer box office is booming — but not because of the usual suspects. Carolina trails Vegas in the Stanley Cup Final and has a big decision to make for Game 4

A sequence of events in a Stanley Cup Final that has gotten crazier by the minute has put the Carolina Hurricanes at a crossroads. They blew a two-goal lead and lost Game 1, erased a two-goal deficit and won Game 2, and rallied from down four goals in Game 3, only to lose in double overtime on a fluky bounce.
