It’s well-known that I’m terrified…TERRIFIED…of bees…yet, in hopes of showing my kids that I’m “Brave Dad”, I had to deal with a bee issue in our backyard.
My plan was to seal up a slight leak in my gutter, but when I got up there to fix it…BEEEEEEEEEEEES! Somehow, I didn’t jump off the ladder…but I did run inside…very brave.
Over the past few days, I’ve been dealing with this bee issue…trying to get them to move…destroying their hive (which they just rebuild)…and then noticed 2 other little hives forming by our garage….just great.
When I tell people this, they always ask “Are they just bees…or wasps?” Listen, I’ve said this before…no one is ever “attacked” by a bee…or it’s never a bees nest…it’s always “This wasp was right in my face”…or “Wasps are everywhere”….TBH, I don’t know…I think some are bees…some are wasps…either way, they sting…and I don’t like it.
Kurt…what are you wearing? Yes…I’m wearing my Iowa Cub Jake Arrieta stocking cap/beard combo…I’m protecting my face. I’m not an idiot…and yes, I have a net…and a broom.
It doesn’t always go as planned…(it never goes as planned)
Yes…this is how I “fight the bees“…I pretend to be brave…I agitate them…then I throw something at them…and cower in fear. Then I wait 6 minutes, and do it again…my plan? To annoy them to the point where they will just leave.
Oh, you should see me try and catch them with my net…it’s quite a shocking display of failure.
The whole thing is shocking….there is running, there is wild flailing, there is childish screams…it’s really conveying “Brave Dad” to the kids.
Bees…this fight is not over. I’m getting a bigger broom!
