Kurt’s Blog: The Tale of Two Shows

Dexter v. Breaking Bad

During last night’s Breaking Bad episode…I was actually getting choked up as the big shootout happened between Hank & Gomez v. Todd’s gang. Why was I choked up? Probably because it’s the end of Hank…(and Gomez, but I’m not concerned with him)…plus, maybe the end of Jesse? (Probably not though…I don’t see Jesse getting offed by thugs…if it’s going to happen, Walt has to pull the trigger, right?)

I was on the edge of my seat though throughout most the episode…and I loved it.

Then, my wife & I watched our favorite show…Dexter…which only has 2 episodes left, and I found myself actually getting disappointed in this final season. (My wife totally disagrees with me though).

But…

1 – I don’t care about Hannah…at all… I never have.

2 – I think I don’t want Dexter, Hannah, and Harrison to live happily ever after.

3 – Dr. Vogel was killed last night…and I had not a care in the world…in fact, glad to see her go. She has just completely slowed this season.

4 – Vogel’s son just isn’t a compelling character.

5 – I do NOT care about Deb & Quinn…at all.

6 – I want to see Dexter on a table at some point…just for that moment. We saw it happen in Season 3…and it was a heart-stopping moment.

Listen, I love Dexter…I just want this show to end on a right note (whatever that note might be)….escaping to Argentina is a lame ending to me (but my wife totally disagrees…she loves this notion).

I just want Dexter to end good…so I am being ultra-critical…but I got burned so badly with “Lost”, that these are the things I continually worry about.

It’s Too Hot Today…

‘Scary Movie’ tops box office, slaying ‘Masters of the Universe’ and adding to low-budget streak

The summer box office is booming — but not because of the usual suspects. After three weeks of indie horror dominance at the box office, the slasher spoof "Scary Movie" topped ticket sales with $55 million over the weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday, easily besting the far-from-mighty "Masters of the Universe."

Carolina trails Vegas in the Stanley Cup Final and has a big decision to make for Game 4

A sequence of events in a Stanley Cup Final that has gotten crazier by the minute has put the Carolina Hurricanes at a crossroads. They blew a two-goal lead and lost Game 1, erased a two-goal deficit and won Game 2, and rallied from down four goals in Game 3, only to lose in double overtime on a fluky bounce.
