Kurt’s Blog: Time to Light Up Urbandale

Being a proud Urbandale resident…it’s been a non-stop party of celebrating 100 years of Urbandale, and the party continues Sunday evening!

It’s “Light Up Urbandale“!

This Sunday, from 6-9, take a drive through Urbandale, and you’ll see some of Urbandale’s neighborhoods lit up with fantastic luminaries in our front yards.

It started with the Golf View Estates neighborhood “lighting it up”, but now as spread everywhere, and it’s becoming quite the sight.

For my fellow Urbandaliens, you can get 20 white paper bags & 20 tea candles for $10 at the UCAN office at 4103 72nd Street. Plus, free sand (which we’ll need to hold down the paper bags and candles in place…which is fantastic to know, and I would have never thought of that) is available until the 9th at Walker Johnston Park or Walnut Creek Regional Park.

If you’re looking for some fantastic light displays…make Urbandale on Sunday night your must-see destination!

Oh, and I have may have been named a “Neighborhood Captain“…and yes, I’m getting a hat & shirt made immediately. Do I plan on letting this honor go to my head? Absolutely. Take that Neighbor Bob! 🙂
