Kurt’s Blog: Weird Al Makes Everything Better

 Train & Matt Nathanson

Train & Matt Nathanson, coming to the Iowa State Fair…should be a great show. Train really impressed me at the All-Star Summer Concert last year, and Matt Nathanson is fantastic. Friday, August 16th is the show date!

So Much Good Music, But My Car Only Plays 2 Things:

There’s so much stuff out there that I want to keep listening too…I’m getting really into the Joy Formidable…the “indie-rock-alternative” stuff is really catching my ear lately.

However, if you take a ride in the good old Corolla…you’ll hear one of two things…the Bob the Builder theme song…or the theme song to Handy Manny.

Oh, I have both discs…each one has 13 songs on it…but we never make it past song #1. It’s just repeat…repeat…repeat. It’s fun hearing my song sing-a-long in the backseat, but it’d be nice if he could learn a little Pearl Jam.

Bonnaroo & Weird Al

Of course, Bonnaroo always looks like an outstanding concert festival…Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, and what, like a hundred other bands…but what caught my eye was that Weird Al was going to be there as well. That would be AWESOME.

I’m a huge Weird Al fan, I’ve shaken his hand while sitting in the front row…yes, that is still a highlight for me 14 years later…I went to “Alapalooza” at a county fair in Wisconsin…had all you can drink milk for 25 cents…braved torrential downpours and 5 tornado warnings (the concert was cancelled unfortunately)…and I have seen him twice in concert…owned a concert t-shirt (which is now part of a blanket).

The Bachelor

I have to admit…I have lost total interest in this season…and I really like Sean’s final two choices a lot…Catherine & Lindsey, but Sean is just so vanilla. There’s nothing exciting really about him (I know, I’m probably not appreciating his abs like some of you are, ha ha). Even with the drama of Tierra, this has been a snore of a season.

I think my wife would even say the same. We DVRed last night, and I don’t know how excited my wife is to watch it tonight. AshLee needed to go come…just beacuse she capitalizes the L in her name. Ha ha.

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!
