Kurt’s Blog: Welcome Back Garth Brooks!

Welcome to Des Moines to our newest Central Iowa resident….Mr. Garth Brooks.

It’s been 23 years…23 years ago, I think I had stepped foot in Iowa maybe once or twice. 23 years ago, I was driving on a driver’s permit….23 years ago…I was still playing football. 23 years ago…I had never dreamt I would have gone bald.

Now here we are…ready to enjoy 6…6!!!!  nights of Garth Brooks.

I’ve seen Garth & Trisha once…and it was incredible….and absolutely can not wait for them to take the stage tonight (I say tonight, but I must await another 24 hours…we’re going Saturday night).

I can’t wait for Facebook and Instagram tonight to be filled with pics of all of us celebrating Garth…pics of friends…pics of strangers…just so happy to have Garth Brooks back here in Central Iowa. Share those pics…share the videos of Wells Fargo Arena singing out every note of Friends in Low Places.

Top 10 Garth Brooks songs:

  1. Callin’ Baton Rouge

3. The Dance

4. Friends in Low Places

5. Standing Outside the Fire

6. Thunder Rolls

7. Unanswered Prayers

8. Ain’t Goin’ Down (’til the Sun Comes Up)

Go enjoy some food & brews at Boots and Brews before the shows…and have a great time…oh ,and there will be chances every hour to win tickets in a suite to see Garth Brooks. Can’t beat that!

Note: Oh, and I will lose myself in the moment when Trisha Yearwood sings “How Do I Live”…yes…because I’m a sappy, sappy, sappy  man 🙂

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!

‘Scary Movie’ tops box office, slaying ‘Masters of the Universe’ and adding to low-budget streak

The summer box office is booming — but not because of the usual suspects. After three weeks of indie horror dominance at the box office, the slasher spoof "Scary Movie" topped ticket sales with $55 million over the weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday, easily besting the far-from-mighty "Masters of the Universe."

Carolina trails Vegas in the Stanley Cup Final and has a big decision to make for Game 4

A sequence of events in a Stanley Cup Final that has gotten crazier by the minute has put the Carolina Hurricanes at a crossroads. They blew a two-goal lead and lost Game 1, erased a two-goal deficit and won Game 2, and rallied from down four goals in Game 3, only to lose in double overtime on a fluky bounce.
