Kurt’s Blog: Well, I Really Didn’t Think I’d Like That Song…But I Do…Arrrgh.

Well, this was depressing when I came to this conclusion…

(First background: 1) Not a big Rihanna fan, 2) even less of a fan when she’s anywhere near Chris Brown, 3) slow pop songs aren’t my normal thing)
That all said…

Love…love…love the new Rihanna ballad “Stay”. Ugh. Everything I know is upside-down right now! It’s such a good song though…and it hits the emotions. (hits the emotions? That’s not a saying, but you get what I’m saying. Maybe not, even I don’t know what I’m saying).

I need to balance this out…here’s what else I’m listening to and really enjoying:

Matt Hires – Bummed that I missed out on him when he was here performing the station a few Mondays ago. His “Forever” EP is terrific. Really liking “Restless Heart”.

Justin Timberlake – “Mirrors” – By the time his album comes out, I’ll be able to “Complete my Album” for $2. Great song.

Taylor Swift – “Red” – If you use the song in a Target commercial, it appears that I will buy it.

Emeli Sande – “Next To Me” – This is the song we play right now that I look forward to the most.

The Japandroids “House That Heaven Built”  – Lovin’ this song. Lovin’ this band. Perhaps this will be what the hipsters & I have in common.

Mad Season “Locomotive” – Welcome back Mad Season. Mark Lanegan (formerly of the Screaming Trees, and amazingly…still alive), takes over for Layne Staley, and this new song is incredilble. Grunge that I can actually understand what the singer is saying for 95% of the track? Groundbreaking!

The Joy Formidable “Maw Maw Song” – Love this anthem-like song. Anytime you can yell out Maw…Maw…Maw…it’s great. It hasn’t been that way since Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell”.

Tegan & Sara “Closer” – 4 years later, I get on the indie bandwagon apparently.

The Return of Justin Timberlake

SNL this season has been less than stellar (in my opinion). The only time I’ve genuinely laughed was this…

However, March 9th…Justin Timberlake returns to pull double-duty. He’s always the highlight of every season.

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!
