Victory Tonight!

Tonight, the mighty, mighty Chicago Blackhawks can win the Stanley Cup. I can’t tell who’s more excited…me…or my wife? She’s really looking forward to the end of the hockey season and returning to going to bed at a reasonable hour.

In future news (if the Hawks win tonight): My victory celebration will be this…I will rise from the couch…hold my fist high in the air, and silenty walk through the house triumphantly (kids will be asleep, can’t risk waking them up). A cat might be hoisted over my head a la the Stanley Cup. (The cat will not be pleased…but that’s the price of championships)
Oh No Lolo

What a bummer that Lolo finished 5th at the Track & Field Championships this weekend. What a great moment it would have been for her to win…at Drake Stadium…and advance on to the World Championships. It was too hot to run anyways.

Congrats to Liang Chow

The road in West Des Moines that goes in front of Chow’s Gymanstics has been re-named in honor of Chow. Well done, well deserved. When I first came to Des Moines in 1996 to attend Drake, never would I imagine that Des Moines would become a hotbed for gymnastics and track & field.

Stephen King’s mini-series “Under the Dome” premieres tonight…and it looks fantastic (although we’ve already seen this premise in “The Simpsons Movie”.) A DVR for sure.
