Kurt’s Blog: Why Wouldn’t You Root for the Cyclones?

The Cyclones being in the Sweet 16 is AWESOME.cyclone2

Even though I’m a Hawkeye fan, but I am fully on-board rooting for them to continue on in their success. I’m a bit tired of the Hawkeye/Cyclone rivalry when we’re not playing each other.

I have a couple of Hawkeye fan buddies who are “sick of hearing about the Cyclones”. I point out to them that I’m sure State fans are sick of hearing about Iowa during Bowl season. When it’s Iowa v. IA State…I’m totally on board with the mudslinging & trash-talking…in fact, I encourage it…but when the CyHawk isn’t at stake, either be a good sport, or just ignore it…don’t be a troll.

Look at this example of a possible Facebook conversation.

Meredith: Congrats to the Cyclones!

George: Sweet 16!

Chris: Iowa State sucks.

Real nice Chris, congrats on looking like an idiot.

Unless DeAndre Kane called you a name or Georges Niang stepped on your foot (which I’m guessing has not happened in either instances)…you have no reason not to root for this team. Heck, as a Hawkeye fan, I wish I could ride this ride as well.

Note: I told a friend that I was going to post this, and he questioned my Hawkeye fandom…which is dumb. Imagine that…I have some dumb friends, ha ha.

The #1 song on my playlist right now…and playing over and over and over again? Pharrell’s “Hunter”. It’s fantastic. With a lyric like “Duck Dynasty is cool and all, but it ain’t go nothin’ on a female’s call, I’m a hunter”? That’s AWESOME.

2nd Annual 'Rebels With A Cause' Gala

R.I.P. James Rebhorn. I remember him mainly from “Meet the Parents”…but also, because of Seinfeld love, I also remember him as the District Attorney who busts the gang in the season finale.

I never had much interest in HBO’s “Girls“…but after finding out in the season finale that Hannah might end up going to the University of Iowa…I am much more intrigued.

Bryan Adams Performs in HanoverBryan Adams is at Hoyt Sherman tonight, and it should be a great show. I like Bryan Adams,  and I started listing my favorite songs…holy cow, I really like the sappy ones, don’t I?

Top 5 Bryan Adams songs

5. Run to You

4. Heaven

3. Straight from the Heart

2. Everything I Do (I Do It For You)

1. All For Love

Really? Really? They have “Real Housewives” Awards? I mean who would have picked Kenya (from Real Housewives of Atlanta) as the Rookie of the Year? I don’t even know what I typed. No idea.

The story is that Lorde came up with “Royals” after seeing a picture of Royals legend George Brett. Lorde was in KC over the weekend, and this was a pretty cool moment on behalf of the Royals.

New App-addiction. The game is called “2048“…it’s highly addictive. It involves math, which I don’t care for…but not tough math. I’ve gotten to 1024…but not that 2048 milestone.

I’m making this bold statement…when it comes to beef…I want 80/20. That’s meat. Anything more than that? That’s too lean for me. I want my beef fatty!

We watched Brave last night…I didn’t like it as much as other Pixar movies. I did like Merida, but the whole bear v. bear battle was a bit intense for our kids I think.

Shakira has a new album out today…best Shakira song? Whenever Wherever.

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!
