Kurt’s Blog: You’re Darn Right We Had a Birthday Party For Our Cat!

I graduated from Drake in 2000….a few weeks after graduating, I got a cat. I named him Sammy…after Sammy Sosa (former Chicago Cubs legend, now a chapter the Cubs want to eras)…

Here we fast forward to 2019...and Sammy…is…still…here.

He’s such a good cat…my daughter looooooooovvvvvves him so much, and she’s always ready to shower him with that love…and he just takes it. lol.

Number of times Sammy has purred in his life? Probably can count that on one hand, it’s just never been his thing, but he’s the most chill cat.

So…last night, we, of course, threw a party…and he…could…have…cared…less. LOL

Any excuse for cookie cake, right!?

Look at the gifts!

Oh, and you better believe there was singing…

…and there was confusion about getting a new baby bed.

This cat is going to outlive me. I just know it.

Happy birthday bud.

The summer box office is booming — but not because of the usual suspects. After three weeks of indie horror dominance at the box office, the slasher spoof "Scary Movie" topped ticket sales with $55 million over the weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday, easily besting the far-from-mighty "Masters of the Universe."

Carolina trails Vegas in the Stanley Cup Final and has a big decision to make for Game 4

Fresh

A sequence of events in a Stanley Cup Final that has gotten crazier by the minute has put the Carolina Hurricanes at a crossroads. They blew a two-goal lead and lost Game 1, erased a two-goal deficit and won Game 2, and rallied from down four goals in Game 3, only to lose in double overtime on a fluky bounce.
