Kurt’s Blog: One Taylor Swift Lyric Keeps Festering in My Brain

I love Taylor Swift’s new album “Lover“. From the first track to last…it’s great.

I’m not usually a fan of her slower songs, which is strange because I’m a sucker for the sappy ballads usually…but I will go as far as saying that “Lover” is one of her best songs.

Now, that said…the opening line in “Lover” has bothered me since the first time I’ve heard it…

That line is…

We could leave the Christmas lights up ’til January”.

OF COURSE YOU LEAVE THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS UP ‘TIL JANUARY!

Alternative lyrics to this…

“We could leave the Christmas lights up ’til mid February”.

“We could leave the Christmas lights up ’til Drake Relays”

“Screw it, the lights ain’t ever coming down…”…

Or…

“We are never ever ever ever taking the lights down”.

Fixed.

Who takes down the lights before January? It’s too cold outside to do that. Taylor could have at least said “We could leave the Christmas lights up THROUGH January”.

This is what I yell into my steering wheel. Fascinating, I know.

Now, that said…”Lover” is mui excellente .
