Kurt’s Blog: The Greatest Rumor Ever & I Shouldn’t Have Re-Watched That

First Off

Tomorrow’s Blog will be much more interesting…it’s been too cold the past few days to actually try and be creative.

Greatest Rumor Ever

This rumor is floating around…and there’s much more truth than rumor in it.

Pearl Jam…Wrigley Field…September.

This is the culmination my being. Holy AWESOMEness!

Ghostbusters

It had been a good 4-5 years since I had watched the classic “Ghostbusters” all in one sitting, but it was on the other night, and my wife and I just started watching it.

It used to be up there as one of my favorite 80s movies…maybe it was the nostalgia of it all, but after re-watching it, I was left feeling so disappointed.

It’s not even the cheesy graphics/sets, there’s were cutting edge for their time, so I’m fine with that. It’s more the fact that I found the movie 99% not funny…I thought I remembered Bill Murray having a lot funnier one-liners, but I was apparently mistaken.

I found myself only enjoying Rick Moranis as Louis.

I shouldn’t have re-watched the movie…I should have left it as is. You can make the argument that movies will lose their humor as time passes…but I don’t feel that way about a lot of the 80s movies that I love (Caddyshack, Spaceballs, Back to the Future, Coming to America, and National Lampoon’s Vacation).

Maybe if I re-watched all the Ghostbusters cartoon series, it would make me feel better.

News From Our Family

So, in the past week, my sister had a little baby boy, Wulf…and my wife’s sister had a little baby girl, Brooklyn. Holidays just got a lot more fun…and a lot more loud!

Billy Joel

Billy Joel released a new album yesterday, so in tribute, here’s My Top 8 Billy Joel Songs.

Oh, before that, two Billy Joel songs that I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing again would be “It’s Still Rock N’Roll to Me”, and “Only the Good Die Young”. Those songs have always irritated me…not sure why.

1. Piano Man (a song I sing in the shower almost all the time, not sure why).

2. We Didn’t Start the Fire

3. Miami 2007

4. Uptown Girl

5. She’s Got a Way

6. River of the Dreams (but only in a limited amount)

7. The Downeaster Alexa

8. The Longest Time

Insanity

Nobody likes hearing about other people’s stories of working out…but I will keep it brief. I’m actually enjoying doing Insanity…and it’s been about 2 weeks, and I already feel a difference, and my jeans feel much looser than normal before.

AWESOME is as AWESOME does!

Choose ‘Trainspotting’: Ewan McGregor and Danny Boyle reflect on the life-changing film

Ewan McGregor, for a fleeting moment after "Trainspotting" came out, felt like a rock star. The kinetic film about four heroin addicts in late-1980s Scotland was and, 30 years later, remains defining — in his career, in the culture and in his understanding of what true artistic satisfaction can feel like.
