From Polk County Emergency Management:
The severe weather and tornados that passed through southern Polk County on March 5, 2022, left a number of homes, buildings, and trees damaged in its wake. The cleanup efforts have been impressive for many of the residents in those affected areas over the past two weeks but the hard work is expected to continue for several days to come.
Polk County Emergency Management encourages homeowners to continue to work with their insurance companies as necessary and continue to track costs associated with their efforts. County crews will continue to pick up vegetative debris from the roadside over the next several days. Please ensure that you are separating vegetation from other debris as you move it roadside.
If you need assistance in cleanup or if you are offering to assist those impacted by the
tornado and storm damage, please call the tornado cleanup hotline at 515-323-5221. Staff will be available to answer calls Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM.
