An update on the phone and internet outage that has persisted since yesterday morning. There has been improvement – you can now call 911 from a landline – but not everything is fixed yet.

Please, be patient. Also, check ahead before going to a small business in Central Iowa to ensure they can process your debit/ credit card.

From Polk County Emergency Management:

“An update to yesterday’s 9-1-1 communications outage:
There has been some improvement, notably 9-1-1 calls are being completed from landlines that are back in service.
However, some main lines or administrative lines remain out, including for some businesses, dispatch centers, and hospitals.
Alternate methods for non-emergency communications with hospitals are available on official social media pages, websites, and patient mobile apps.
